Texas Tech Soccer Blanks Stephen F. Austin

The Texas Tech Soccer team improved their record to (3-0) this afternoon with a 1-0 shutout of Stephen F. Austin at the TCU Invitational.

The match was scoreless at halftime with Stephen F. Austin getting 6 shots on goal and Texas Tech 4 shots on goal.

The second half continued in a back-and-forth fashion, until the final 10 minutes of the match. Texas Tech was able to force the action into the Lumberjacks half of the field. The Red Raiders garnered 5 shots and 2 corner kicks in those final 10 minutes.

The game-winning goal came in the 89th minute. Texas Tech forward, Janine Beckie (Fr., pictured), kicked in a deflection inside of the six-yard box. The goal officially came at the 89:16 mark and she was assisted by senior Tiffini Smith.

Texas Tech Soccer's next match is Sunday at 11a against Montana in the TCU Invitational.
