The Texas Tech soccer team earned a berth into the NCAA Championship Monday afternoon for the first time in program history.

The Red Raiders (15-5-1) set a program record for wins on the year and will host Sun Belt Conference champion North Texas (16-4-2) Saturday in a first round match. First kick from the John Walker Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m.

"It's just incredible," head coach Tom Stone said. "It's such a great moment for this program and is a reflection of the commitment this university has made to women's soccer. We are thrilled to be able to host the first round and bring the NCAA Championships to Lubbock and our incredible fan base."

The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the regional round the NCAA Championships and face the winner between No. 1 seed Florida State and Mississippi Valley.

Texas Tech and the Mean Green last faced in 2010, with the Red Raiders winning the home match 1-0.
