Texas Tech Soccer Falls to Florida State 3-2 in Overtime

The historic season for Texas Tech Red Raider Soccer ended Friday night in dramatic fashion in Tallahassee, Florida. The Red Raiders fell to No. 1 seed Florida State in overtime 3-2 in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Texas Tech drew first blood in the match as freshman Janine Beckie scored in the 15^th minute of play to make the score 1-0. Florida State would equalize in the 40^th minute before halftime and then take the lead in the second half in the 66^th minute for a 2-1 lead.

In the waning moments of the match and the season on the line, Beckie would tie the game for the Red Raiders with a header from 15 yards out to force overtime.

In the overtime, Florida State would win the match in the 105^th minute as Tifany McCarthy scored the game winner and her second score of the match.

Texas Tech finishes their season at 16-6-1 and making their first appearance in the NCAA in program history.
