The historic season for Texas Tech Red Raider Soccer ended Friday night in dramatic fashion in Tallahassee, Florida. The Red Raiders fell to No. 1 seed Florida State in overtime 3-2 in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Texas Tech drew first blood in the match as freshman Janine Beckie scored in the 15th minute of play to make the score 1-0. Florida State would equalize in the 40th minute before halftime and then take the lead in the second half in the 66th minute for a 2-1 lead.

In the waning moments of the match and the season on the line, Beckie would tie the game for the Red Raiders with a header from 15 yards out to force overtime.

In the overtime, Florida State would win the match in the 105th minute as Tifany McCarthy scored the game winner and her second score of the match.

Texas Tech finishes their season at 16-6-1 and making their first appearance in the NCAA in program history.
