The Texas Tech Red Raider Soccer team won a 1-0 shutout over Utah. In the Red Raiders sole preseason matchup before the beggining of the regular season, the Red Raiders shut down the Utah offense, outshooting them  13-8.

The lone goal of the game came from Hayley Haagsma, finding the net in the 79th minute of the game.Commenting on the goal, Red Raider head coach Tom Stone stated that, "She beat her player and attempted to slot the keeper, but had her shot rebound out to the edge of the box where Haagsma blasted a first time volley through the crowd and into the net."

Coach Stone also added, "There was a lot of end-to-end action. It had the feel of a regular season match which is exactly what we had hoped for in this match up. Utah stretched us and definitely helped us identify our training needs over the next few weeks."

Texas Tech's regular season opener is set to begin August 17th when the Red Raiders welcome Idaho into town.
