The Texas Tech soccer team has been selected to host their opening round match against the University of Prairie View A&M.  Tom Stone and company will enter the 64 team tournament as a number three seed as they are hosting an opening round match for the third consecutive year.  "It's always an honor to be selected," coach Stone said.  "We are thrilled to be at home this weekend and get to host Prairie View A&M.  I know our players are excited and I'm sure they will be ready to play Friday evening."

Tech enters the postseason with a 14-3-2 overall record which was good enough to earn them their first ever national seed in the NCAA Championship.  The No. 3 national seed allows Tech to potentially avoid facing another seeded opponent, such as No. 2 Florida, until the third round of the tournament.  Prairie View A&M on the other hand heads to Lubbock after going 11-7-0 during the regular season while finishing second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament this past weekend.  Tournament champion Howard was ineligible to advance to the NCAA Championship due to being in its first season as a soccer-only institution in the conference.

First kick for this game is set for 7pm on Friday evening at the John Walker Soccer Complex where the Red Raiders are 2-0 all-time in NCAA events.
