Texas Tech Soccer Upsets No. 20 Long Beach State

Texas Tech Soccer won in dramatic fashion Friday night in the Cal State Fullerton Under Armour Invitational.

The Red Raiders upset 20th ranked Long Beach State 3-2 behind freshman Janine Beckie and her game winning goal with 31 seconds left in the double overtime match.

This was Beckie's third game winning goal of the season and helped Tech overcome a 2-1 deficit with a goal in the 84th minute to tie the game.

Texas Tech is now 6-2 on the season and snapped a two-game losing streak which began on the road at Ole Miss and Auburn.

Tech jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first half with a goal from Hayley Haagsma in the 50th minute of action. Long Beach would then net back to back goals from Eileen Maes to make the score 2-1.

The Raiders will take on tournament host Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm CT.
