Kelsey Dennis started it off on the mound for the Lady Raiders but only lasted till the second giving up 2 runs and 2 hits. Dennis was pulled after she put another two Lady Wildcats on base after giving up the solo shot. She was replaced with Freshman Brittany Talley who would walk in a run

Tech would finally get on the board in the 4th inning on a Richardson solo home run but the game was already getting out of hand as Arizona lead 6-1.

After a scoreless 5th the Lady Wildcats ended all hopes of a Lady Raider comeback in the 6th. Arizona posted 4 runs in the 6th, 2 of which came on a Baillie Kirker home run.

Tech failed to extend the game in the bottom of the 6th, only scoring 1 run. The Lady Raiders ended their season being run ruled by Arizona.

Head Coach Shannon Hays had this to say about his team:

“I couldn’t be prouder of the effort from our group not only today but the entire season. I thought we battled with one of the best teams in the country, and although the score may not indicate it, we were in the game throughout. This is a great group of kids, and we are excited to have them at Texas Tech.”

If Tech had won this game they still would have needed to win a game 2 which would have immediately followed.

Tech  set a team record with 10 walks in this game.
