The Texas Tech men's baksetball team notched their third consecutive Big 12 win on Wednesday night with their 68-60 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners (18-6, 7-4 in Big 12) in Norman.  Robert Turner proved to be the difference for Tubby Smith's squad as he had 16 points, 5 assists and 2 steals in the win.

Tech would get out to one of their best starts of the year and by halftime had built a 37-21 lead.  At the 12:23 mark in the second half the Red Raiders were able to stretch their lead to 49-30, but then the Sooners got their offense going.  They cut deep into that lead in just under a four minute span and by the 8:44 mark the score sat at 51-46.

That is when Robert Turner (pictured above) turned it on for Tech.  He was on the bench for the majority of the OU run and once he got back in the game, the team really came back to focus.  He scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half and made some clutch passes to help his team hold on for the win.  Dusty Hannahs and Jaye Crockett also made big plays down the stretch for Tubby Smith and the Red Raiders.

The defense was one of the key factors for Tubby Smith's team in the game as they were able to hold Oklahoma's leading scorer, Buddy Hield to just three points on 1-13 shooting from the floor.  He had been averaging close to 18 points per game prior to Wednesday night's loss.

This win is a big one for Texas Tech as they now have a good road victory to go along with those upsets at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock.  Tubby Smith and company now sit at 13-11 on the year and 5-6 in Big 12 play which is just one game back of #11 Iowa State in the conference standings.

If they could keep moving in this direction and get a few more good wins they may be able to sneak into the NIT, which is something no Tech fan saw coming from this team this year.  The Red Raiders will look to stay in the win column when they head to Iowa State over the weekend to take on the nationally ranked Cyclones.  They beat Tech in Lubbock back on January 4th by a score of 74-63  Tip off for that game is set for 12:30pm on Saturday from James H. Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
