A former Red Raider Tennis player is returning to Lubbock to serve on Tim Siegel's coaching staff.

James Wilson returns to Raiderland after serving as an assistant on the UNLV Men's Tennis team last season.

Siegel said in a press release,

We are very excited to welcome back one of our own, especially someone like James. He brings so many things to the table, but more importantly, he knows what Texas Tech Tennis is about. He has been a part of the journey, a part of the success and a part of the one of the most successful eras in the program’s history."

Wilson lettered at Texas Tech in 2008 and 2009 after transferring into the program. The Red Raiders went 47-28 with Wilson on the roster and achieved Top 25 rankings in each season.

It is a dream come true to be back at Texas Tech,” said Wilson. “I have so many fond memories of my time here and I am incredibly humbled to be able to help lead this team. Working alongside my mentor and former coach is a pleasure and one of the greatest aspects of this opportunity. I cannot wait to get started.”

Wilson served as an assistant previously at the College of William and Mary before joining the staff at UNLV in 2012.
