The Texas Tech softball and baseball teams will hold their annual First Pitch Luncheon on February 16th from the Lubbock Civic Center Banquet Hall. The tenth annual luncheon will help benefit the Red Raider Club and scholarships.

Both the Texas Tech Red Raider baseball and softball teams will be at the luncheon to speak and greet the crowd. Also in attendance will be head coaches Dan Spencer and Shannon Hays to talk about the upcoming seasons.

The Texas Tech Baseball team will open up their season on February 18th when they play host to Western Michigan in the first game of the Red Raider Classic. Texas Tech will also play host to Northwestern and Utah Valley during their opening season tournament. The Red Raiders will look to improve last season’s record of 28-29 and their 1-2 record in the Big 12 tournament. The Red Raiders are in their third season under head coach Dan Spencer.

The Texas Tech softball team enters their 2nd season under head coach Shannon Hays. The Lady Raiders also enter this season coming off of their best since 2001. The 2010 season, first for Hays, was a successful 38-18 for the year and 7-11 in the Big 12 conference. The Lady Raiders open their 2011 season almost a week before the First Pitch Luncheon. Texas Tech will begin play in the Arizona State Kajikawa Tournament on February 10th.

Doors for the First Pitch Luncheon will open at 11:30 with the event beginning at noon. Tickets for the event are currently on sale. Tables of 8 are $350 while individual tickets will run only $20. Reserve your tables by calling Kelly Coffman at 742-1196.
