One of the more surprising games on Texas Tech's 2016 football schedule is against Louisiana Tech. The match-up will be the first time in 83 years the two teams will play each other.

Yes, you read that right: 83 years. As in, before World War II.

Prior to their meeting on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2015 at Jones AT&T Stadium, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs faced off on Oct. 20, 1933 here in Lubbock. It was the same year the Lone Star Flag was formally adopted by Texas. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the President of the United States.

Texas Tech walked away with the win, beating Louisiana Tech 40-10. Even in the 1930s, Lubbock's team was putting up 40 bombs!
