The revival of the Texas Tech Red Raider Basketball team took the show to Waco Saturday night for a showdown with the No. 22 Baylor Bears. The Red Raiders didn’t disappoint, using a strong second-half showing shooting 67 percent from the field to outscore the Bears 51-34 en route for the 84-66 victory.

Keenan Evans led the Red Raiders in scoring with 21 points including going three of five from behind the three-point arc. Justin Gray added 17 points in the second consecutive win for the Red Raiders over a ranked opponent in four days.

The Red Raiders jumped out to a 11-4 lead in first five minutes of the game before both teams would exchange leads in the half, with Baylor going on a 16-5 run to take a four-point lead. The Red Raiders would then fight back to take a 33-32 lead after Aaron Ross hit a three-pointer with thirty-eight seconds left in the half.

Texas Tech would never trail in the game after that three.

The importance of this win for Texas Tech can’t be overstated. This win is a road win against a ranked opponent in the Big 12 after upsetting No. 14 Iowa State earlier this week and with No. 3 Oklahoma looming for a Wednesday night showdown in Lubbock.

Texas Tech is now 15-9 overall and 5-7 in the Big 12 Conference.
