Texas Tech Baseball beat the New Mexico State Aggies for the third time in 2018 today in the first game of the Lubbock regional of the NCAA tournament. The final score was 9-2.

Ryan Shetter was the star of the game throwing five complete innings and completely shut down NMSU after giving up a solo shot in the 3rd inning. Shetter relieved starter Dylan Dusek who threw two solid innings and Connor Queen threw two solid innings to end the game on a strong note.

The Red Raider offense got it going early with a Zach Rheams two-run shot in the first inning and got out to a three-run lead. They would get 2 more runs in the bottom of the third to make it 5-1 after an RBI from Cam Warren and a SAC liner from Michael Davis.

Texas Tech wouldn't score again until the bottom of the 7th inning after a two-out foul ball hit the turf between two Aggies. After the miscue, Texas Tech took advantage stringing several hits together scoring four more runs including another RBI from Warren.

Dane Haveman would give up a four-pitch walk in his only four pitches of his outing before Queen came in and made a lot of good pitches but gave up three hits to allow Haveman's runner to come home. Queen would get the Aggies three-up-three-down in the top of the ninth to close out the game.

Michael Davis finished the game 2 for 3 with three RBI and a run.

Texas Tech will play the winner between Louisville and Kent State Saturday at 7:00 pm.
