Texas Tech redshirt sophomore Duke von Schamann has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

von Schamann is the first Red Raider to earn the award since Chad Bettis in 2010.

He was dominating last Friday in a complete-game, two-hitter at Kansas where he led Texas Tech to a 3-1 victory. It marked his third complete game of the season and second in a row.

von Schamann struck out six and allowed a run (unearned) against the Jayhawks while issuing just one walk. He’s the first Red Raider to throw back-to-back complete games since 2005. In addition he has not allowed an earned run in 19 consecutive innings pitched.

He is currently second in the Big 12 with a 1.72 ERA with a 4-3 record in seven starts with 52.1 innings pitched and the three complete games. He has a team-leading 35 strikeouts while opponents are batting just .180 with just eight walks allowed on the season.
