Texas Tech junior second baseman Jamodrick McGruder has been named one of 35 semifinalists for the 2012 Dick Howser Trophy, an award given out annually to the top collegiate baseball player.

He is the first Red Raider to be named a semifinalist for the trophy since 2004 when All-American first baseman Josh Brady made the list.

McGruder led the Big 12 in 10 statistical categories while batting .358 with 54 runs, eight triples, 45 walks, .500 on-base percentage and is third in the nation with 39 stolen bases.

The Big 12 Conference lead the way with six players being up for the award.

The award will be presented at the TD Ameritrade Stadium in Omaha on Friday, June 15 at 11 a.m., the opening day of the 2012 College World Series.
