Texas Tech forward Janine Beckie’s outstanding freshman season continued Wednesday as she was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshmen Team of the Year.

Beckie is one of just two Big 12 rookies to be named to the postseason squad after leading the Red Raiders with 14 goals and five assists. She’s the second Tech player in four-years to be named to the team as Taylor Lytle earned second team honors in 2008.

“After the season Janine had, we are excited to see the level of national recognition she has received." Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said.  "It’s quite a feat to score 14 goals as a freshman, but the importance and magnitude of many of her goals were the most impressive part of her stats this year.”

Her 14 goals are the second most in school history by a freshman and the most since 1996.
