Texas Tech University's leisure pool recently received a top-5 ranking from online publication dedicated to news about colleges in the U.S.

The leisure pool was ranked fourth on the list of best campus pools in the country by CollegeRank.net.

The $8.4 million leisure pool was completed in May 2009 and is one of the largest in the nation. The facility features a 645-foot lazy river, an 8-lane lap pool, 25-person hot tub, diving well and a wet deck for tanning where students can relax. The leisure pool is complex is over two acres in size.

“Without the direct input of the Texas Tech student body, our recreational facilities would not be where they are today,” said Peewee Roberson, managing director of Recreational Sports. “In the last 40 years, Texas Tech Recreational Sports has put in a strong effort to provide our students with facilities they want and need. We are honored to be included in this ranking and will continue to provide for our students.”

In addition to being open to Texas Tech students, faculty, staff and family members, there are dedicated family hours during the weekends and swimming lesson programs for area children.
