Texas Tech’s Seth Doege Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
After guiding Texas Tech to an upset win at No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday evening, junior quarterback Seth Doege was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
It was Deoge’s second time this season to receive the honor after being selected on Sept. 19th following the victory at New Mexico. He’s the only Big 12 Player to be selected as Offensive Player of the Week twice this year.
Doege completed 33 of 52 passes for 441 yards and four touchdowns to help the Red Raiders snap Oklahoma’s 39-game home winning streak. He also scored a rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
That wasn’t the only recognition rolling in for Doege as he was also named the Walter Camp Football Association Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season well. He’s the first Red Raider offensive player to receive Big 12 Player of the Week honors multiple times in a season since Graham Harrell received the honor three times in 2008.
Oklahoma State sophomore linebacker Shaun Lewis was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery in the Cowboys’ 45-24 win at Missouri.
Kansas State freshman Tyler Lockett picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors after tallying 251 all-purpose yards in the Wildcats 59-21 win at in state rival Kansas. He became the first player in K-State history to return a kickoff for a score in consecutive games.
In other Red Raider Football news, their Nov 5th road game against the Longhorns has been scheduled for a 11 a.m. kickoff and will be televised on FX. Texas Tech first returns to action at home this Saturday night as the Red Raiders host the Iowa State Cyclones inside the Jones with a 6 o’clock kickoff.
