The Arizona Wildcats defeated the two-time defending National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks 4-1 Monday night in Omaha, NE.

James Farris shutdown the Gamecocks pitching 7 2/3 innings and Matthew Troupe finished the game for Arizona allowing only three combined hits.

Arizona broke South Carolina's back in the Top of the Ninth inning where they plated three runs to take a 4-1 lead.

Trent Gilbert drove in two of the three runs in the ninth to break the game wide open while leading the Wildcats at the plate going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI in the game as the number 9 hitter in the line up.

South Carolina (49-20) only scored two runs in the Championship series and couldn't solve the Arizona (48-17) pitching staff.
