The Dallas Cowboys and Linebacker Sean Lee Agree to a Six-Year Contract Extension

The Dallas Cowboys and starting linebacker Sean Lee have agreed to a six-year contract extension worth up to $42 million with an extra 9 million in incentives.  The Cowboys drafted Lee back in 2010 out of the University of Penn State and he has been a staple for the defense ever since.

His effectiveness was never seen more then when he missed time last year due to a toe injury that forced Lee to miss the last ten games of the season.  The team made a turn for the worse after he went out as they once again did not make the playoffs.  All is well this time around for now however as he has taken back hold of one of the leader spots on that side of the ball.  The Cowboy linebacker had this to say about the signing, "I'm extremely excited. I was blessed to be able to be drafted by a great franchise.  To have an opportunity to be here a long time and hopefully compete for a Super Bowl is fantastic."

The defense will defiantly rely heavily on him this year as they are switching to new defensive coordinator Monty Kiffen's system as they will be going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme.  The team will hopefully have it down by the time division foe the New York Giants come to town.  Kickoff for that game and the season is set for September 8th at 7:30 pm from the newly named AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
