The Dallas Cowboys Get Blown Out by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night 49-17
The Dallas Cowboys were looking to put a three game win streak together as the went into New Orleans for the NFL's Sunday match-up. Defensive Coordinator Monty Kiffin was especially happy last night as he saw his veteran leader Demarcus Ware return from a three game absence. But that joy and excitement would soon leave the team as they would be embarrassed in New Orleans by a final score of 49-17.
Now Dallas' defense has already had a slue of injuries throughout that side of the ball but things would only get worse for the unit, as the last person the team could afford to lose would leave the game. Early in the second quarter, Sean Lee, the quarterback of the defense, was sent to the locker room with a left hamstring injury and did not return, the severity not immediately known. “Don’t know the severity, but obviously it’s not good,” Lee said. “So we’ve got to figure it out, and I’ll do whatever I can to rehab and get back as fast as possible.” For New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, he would have a stellar game as he finished with 392 yards passing with 4 touchdowns, while the New Orleans offense set an NFL record with 40 first downs in the win.
Tony Romo and the offense had rough game as well as he could only manage just 128 yards on 10-24 passing. It is the second time in the last three games that he has failed to complete at least 50 percent of his passes.
With the loss, Dallas falls back to .500 and are now tied for first in the NFC East with a 5-5 mark, although they currently hold the tiebreaker with Philadelphia. They will now have a much needed bye week before returning to action on November 24th when they travel to New York to take on the Giants.
