The Dallas Cowboys and the NFL continue the draft tonight as the Cowboys select 3rd in the second round and 4th in the third round.

After selecting a running back on day one, it's a strong possibility that the Cowboys spend both of these picks on the defensive side of the ball.

2nd Round

The second round will be spent on a pass rusher or linebacker depth. It's the highest available value that matches your needs on defense right now. Obviously, the defensive end depth was hurt by the suspensions of Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence, but regardless of the suspensions the defensive line still needs depth in the form of an edge rusher.

3rd Round

The 3rd round will be much more interesting. The Cowboys tried to get back into the first round to get Paxton Lynch in the 1st round. I think that meant they valued lynch that much over the rest of the available QBs but it could mean they really are interested in getting a viable option at QB in the 2016 draft and not just a project.

I still think there is more value in the 3rd round on defense but if there is a tight end, receiver or quarter back that the Cowboys feel matches their scheme they will pull the trigger.

Possible Targets For Day 2

Myles Jack, OLB UCLA - He'd play the strong side backer in the Cowboys 4-3 system. He fits. He's a top 5 talent with good character but his knee is a mystery right now. He may or may not need a surgery that will cost him a year of playing time. Big Risk / Big Return is the best way to describe this pick.

Noah Spence, DE Eastern Kentucky - Disclaimer *HE HAS A HISTORY OF DRUG ABUSE* But, hear me out, he's got 20 straight clean tests and has made more of an effort to change than any other player in the league right now. He has premier speed for the position and is hailed as the best pure edge rusher in the draft. After Lawrence and Gregory come back Spence will be a great pass rush specialist until he develops the rest of his game.

Reggie Ragland, ILB Alabama - This pick would move Rolando McClain to the strong side and place Reggie in the center of the defense. He's a stone cold killer. Ragland provides immediate help to the run defense and would be a day one starter.

Hunter Henry, TE Arkansas - The Hall of Famer Jason Witten can't play forever. Gavin Escobar isn't the answer. Hunter's NFL comparison by scouts was Jason Witten. If he's there in the 3rd round, he wouldn't be the worst pick, but there are more pressing needs.

Braxton Miller, Freak Athlete Ohio State - Miller isn't a great route runner. He doesn't have a ton of experience at the position. He won't be available in the 3rd but if he is he would be hard to pass up.

Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor and Zack Sanchez, CB, Oklahoma -
Arguably the 2 best CB's in the Big 12 last year. Both are play makers and will be available in the 3rd round hopefully. They don't have the name recognition that Jalen Ramsey has but they will be nice additions.

Honorable Mentions : A’Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Andrew Billings, Kevin Dodd, Hassan Ridgeway, Dak Prescott, Connor Cook
