The Houston Astros Blow Late Inning Lead to the Oakland Athletics, Lose 4-3

The Houston Astros entered the seventh inning leading the Oakland Athletics, but Coco Crisp delivered a two-run homer off Astros reliever Travis Blackley in a three-run seventh inning, which erased Houston’s 3-1 lead.  This ruined what was a solid outing by Houston starter Bud Norris.  Norris, who’s been in many trade talks as of late, went 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven while giving up just three runs on four hits.  The Astros would go on to lose the game with a final score of 4-3.

The offense struggled again as they could only manage three runs on seven hits.  Jose Altuve led the team last night going two for four in his team-leading 28th multi-hit game and also recorded his 24th stolen base, which leads all second basemen.  Oakland’s starter A.J. Griffen had one of his better games of the year as he tied a season-high eight strikeouts in just over six innings of work.

Houston has no time to lick their wounds as they start a four game weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays today.  First pitch is set for 6:07 pm from Rogers Center in Toronto.
