The Oakland Athletics sent the former Astros prospect Sonny Gray (Pictured on the Left) to the mound yesterday as he was looking for his first Major League win.  He picked a good team to face as they Astros have one of the worst offenses in the league.  Houston was true to form yesterday as Gray was able to shut out the Astros and go eight innings and strike out nine in the win.

Houston's starter, Erik Bedard, on the other hand did not have as much luck.  He was only able to go just over four innings while giving up five runs on seven hits and walked four in the losing effort.

The offense wasn't much better than the pitching as they could not get a run across home plate.  Only four Astros were able to record hits in the contest and they only had five total as a team.

There is a bright spot from this series though in that Houston won the series 2-1.  They will look to built on that momentum as they start a midweek series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  First pitch is set for 9:05 pm from Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
