The Houston Astros Offense Explodes as They Beat the Baltimore Orioles 11-0

The Houston Astros offense has struggled for the majority of the 2013 season to put it lightly.  Last night they finally put it all together as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles 11-0.

Houston pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (Pictured on the Right) picked up his first Major League win while making a spot start for Erik Bedard. He allowed only three hits while striking out six Orioles and didn’t walk a batter as he was awarded the win.  The start was also his first appearance since July 22 at Triple-A.  The Astros have a spot open in their rotation following the trade of Bud Norris, and with Oberholtzer performance last night, he has defiantly put himself in the conversation to take it.

The offense had one of their better games of the year as they put up eleven runs on fifteen hits in route to the victory.  They had five different Astros who were able to get two or more hits in the game.  Baltimore’s defense was less than stellar last night which is very uncharacteristic of them as they are on pace to break the MLB record for the least amount of errors in a season.  They gave up a season high five unearned runs in the loss on Wednesday night.

The Astros will go for the series win tonight as they play game three of their midweek series.  First pitch is set for 6:05 pm from Orioles Park in Camden Yards.
