Candi Whitaker and the Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball program continued to struggle over the weekend.  They made the trip up to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the Jayhawks and try and end a four game losing streak.  Kansas had other plans though as they handed Tech their fifth straight loss along with their fourth straight Big 12 loss with a 67-46 final.

Junior guard Amber Battle (pictured on the left) led the team as she was able to score 15 points and add five rebounds in the loss.  The Lady Raiders stayed close early on in the game but struggled with rebounds and on its shots as Kansas shot 46% from the field and also won the battle of the boards 52-25.  "I thought we got some good looks and got to the rim," Texas Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. "The shots just didn't go."

The loss drops the team to 6-9 on the season and now 0-4 in conference play.  "We did a much better job of taking care of the ball," Whitaker said. "Kansas is a team that will pressure a little bit. That's going to be huge for us later if we can take care of the ball and get shots at the basket."  Coach Whitaker and company now turn their attention to Kansas State, who also still looking for their first conference win.  That game is set for Tuesday night with tip off set for 7:07pm from the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock and can be seen on FOX Sports SW Plus.
