The Texas Rangers Blow a Late Lead to Fall 4-3 to the Minnesota Twins

The Texas Rangers held a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the ninth inning on Tuesday night as they were just three outs away from claiming their fourth straight victory.  Ranger closer Joakim Soria would have a bad outing however as he gave up two runs in that inning to give to the Twins the 4-3 win and snap Texas’ winning streak.

The Rangers had a one-run lead going into the ninth, but their offense struggled for the most part on Tuesday.  Texas was just 2-for-10 on the night with runners in scoring position.  Alex Rios led off the fourth with a double and the ninth with a triple, but the Rangers couldn’t get him home.  The latter missed opportunity proved pivotal.  “We had the lead at the end,” Ranger manager Ron Washington said.  “Yeah, we would have liked to have added on, but we had the lead.  I thought we had done enough tonight to win the ballgame.  We just didn’t put it away.”

With the loss, Texas has now fallen back to .500 as they now sit at 26-26 on the season thus far.  The Rangers will continue their mid-week series against the Twins tonight as they look to get back on track.  First pitch for that game is set for 7:10pm from Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and can be seen on FOX Sports SW.
