The Texas Rangers were looking to take their midweek series with the New York Yankees as they took the field on Thursday afternoon.  That's exactly what they did thanks to a complete game shutout by starter Derek Holland.

Holland was able to finish the game without allowing a run and giving up just two hits while striking out seven.  It was his best outing of the year as he did not allow a hit after the third inning and retired 17 of the last 18 batters he faced.  The Yankees were only able to get one runner past first base all game.

Yankees' starter Phil Hughes had one of his better games of the year as well as he was able to keep the Ranger offense in check for the majority of the game.  He went eight innings giving up just two runs on five hits.  Jurickson Profar (Pictured on the Left) provided most of the offense for Texas as he was responsible for both of the runs scored.  He hit his third homerun of the year and scored the other run on a sacrifice fly by Ian Kinsler.

With that the Rangers start a three game weekend series tonight against the Cincinnati Reds.  Martin Perez will get the start opposite Reds starter Johnny Cueto with first pitch set for 7:05 pm from the Ballpark in Arlington.
