The Texas Rangers Re-Sign Mike Napoli
The Texas Rangers and Mike Napoli have come to a one year $9.4 million agreement to avoid salary arbitration and keep Napoli in a Rangers uniform. Napoli spent his first five seasons in the Majors with the Los Angeles Angels. Since coming to Dallas however, Napoli has been a fan sensation, coming through in clutch moments in helping the Rangers win their second American League Pennant.
Last season, Napoli set career highs by hitting .320 with 30 homers and 75 RBIs in 113 with the Rangers.
Napoli is getting a raise from the $5.8 million he made last year. In negotiations, Napoli had asked for $11.5 million, and the Rangers offered $8.3 million. Napoli was the last arbitration eligible player for the Rangers this season. With the recent resigning of Nelson Cruz, Elvis Andrus, and now Mike Napoli, the Rangers have solidified the middle of their lineup for at least another year.
