The Texas Rangers must now get ready for their playoff game for the final wildcard spot after their 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon.  Tampa Bay defeated the Blue Jays 7-6 while the Cleveland Indians beat the Twins to take hold of the top American League wildcard spot.

Texas sent Yu Darvish to the mound opposite the Angel's starter Jason Vargas as Yu would go just over five innings and give up two runs on four hits while striking out eight LA batters.  He would not be awarded the win however as that would go to reliever Neal Cotts.  Angels starter Vargas would be given the loss as he would give up three runs on seven hits in just over six innings.

The Ranger offense would finally get it going in the bottom of the fifth inning as they would score two runs.  Adrian Beltre and Geovany Soto would homer in the eighth to seal the game for manager Ron Washington and Texas as closer Joe Nathan would come in for the ninth inning as close the game.

The tie-breaking game will be played on Monday with first pitch set for 7:07 p.m. at the Ballpark in Arlington and can be seen on TBS. Rookie left-hander Martin Perez is expected to pitch for the Rangers opposite left-hander David Price for Tampa Bay.
