Back to back home runs doomed the Texas Rangers and Matt Harrison’s efforts to break their now seven game losing streak to the New York Yankees in the Bronx. The effort got off to an admirable start, with Harrison pitching into the seventh inning, giving up no runs and four hits at that point. From there, it was all Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira. Both belted home runs in the seventh inning, breaking the 0-0 tie, putting the Yankees ahead by what ended up being the final score of 3-0.

After the game, starting pitcher Matt Harrison stated, “I felt strong, I didn’t feel as strong as I did in the first inning, but as you make pitches, your focus level is definitely higher.” Harrison ultimatley took the loss, giving up one run in his seven innings of work.

Offensively, it was a dull night for the Rangers, with one of the few highlights coming from Elvis Andrus, who smacked an infield single in the seventh inning.
