Head coach Candi Whitaker moved to 2-0 to start her tenure at Texas Tech after her teams 64-56 win over the New Mexico Lobos.  She had this to say about the win, "It was a great win for us.  I'm really proud of how we played. I thought we played well at times, we had some lapses but we came back. When they came back and made a run, we countered it. It's a big win for our program and we're excited to be 2-0."

Junior guard Amber Battle (Pictured on the right) would lead the team in the win as she poured in 17 points while also grabbing the most rebounds (14).  Others major contributors on the offensive end were red-shirt freshman Minta Spears who had a career-high 16 points and finished a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Freshman Diamond Lockhart also had a career-high in points at she scored 13 in Wednesday's victory.

The team will now try to improve to 3-0 but that will not be easy as they have another tough battle coming up on this Sunday against the Sun Devils of Arizona State.  Tip off for that game is set for 2 pm from the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock.
