UTSA would grabbed a lead on the opening possession, but fell behind quickly as Texas Tech broke an early 7-7 tie with a 30-13 run to close the first half. The Red Raiders led by as much as 35 points midway through the second half.  Tubby Smith's defense proved to be the key in the victory as they held UTSA to just 18.2 % from beyond the arc and just 37.7 % shooting as a team.

Up next for the Red Raiders will be their toughest opponent thus far as they travel to Arizona to take on the #4 ranked Wildcats.  Tip off for that game is set for Tuesday night at 8pm from the McKale Center in Tucson.
