Tubby Smith and the Texas Tech men's basketball team need to bounce back as they suffered their first loss last week at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 76-65.  The team will have to do so at home on Monday as Texas Southern comes to town in the opening round of the Progressive Legends Classic.

This is the Red Raiders second appearance in the event. Texas Tech also played in the 2008 edition of the tournament, finishing third with a 3-1 record. Texas Tech will host Texas Southern (2-2) Monday at 8 pm on ESPNU in the first round and then host South Dakota State (0-3) at 7 pm on Fox Sports SW Plus on Thursday in the second round.  The Red Raiders will advance to face Pittsburgh (2-0) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 25th at 6:30 pm in the semifinals, before facing either Houston (3-0) or Stanford (2-1) in the finals on November 26th.

So far this year Robert Turner has really been a key factor for the team as he is currently leading the team in scoring (15.7 ppg), assists (2.7).  The 6'3, 180lb Junior college transfer from New Mexico JC has made an immediate impact this year as he has scored in double figures in all four of Texas Tech's games this season.  They will need that type of play if they want to pull out a win on Monday night against Texas Southern.
