This is the Red Raiders second appearance in the event. Texas Tech also played in the 2008 edition of the tournament, finishing third with a 3-1 record.  Ironically, Texas Tech also faced off against Pittsburgh in the tournament semifinals in 2008, with the Panthers edging out the Red Raiders , 80-67.  That being said though, Pittsburgh is currently 4-0 on the season after securing wins over Savannah State (88-55), Fresno State (75-54), Howard (84-52) and Lehigh (77-58), but the Panthers have yet to venture away from their home court.

Tip off for tonight's game is set 5:30 pm for at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and can be seen on ESPN 2.
