Patrick Mahomes and Jonathan Giles were both named to the second team All-Big 12 on Tuesday by the AP and ESPN.com. This is the first postseason honor for Giles and the 3rd for Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes put up the most stats this season of any Big 12 quarterback but was beat out as first team by Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who led the Sooners through the Big 12 undefeated.

Giles was one of Mahomes go to targets this season and led the Red Raiders in receptions (69), receiving yards (1,158) and receiving touchdowns (13), all of which that ranked among the Big 12 leaders. His 13 touchdowns ranks ninth nationally and second in the Big 12.

According to texastech.com, Giles ended his year in ninth place all-time for single-season receiving yards as he surpassed the totals of both Jakeem Grant (2015) and Wes Welker (2003) in Tech’s season finale against Baylor. His 1,158 receiving yards rank third historically among Tech sophomore receivers.

In addition to Mahomes and Giles, sophomore place kicker Clayton Hatfield was also recognized on ESPN’s All-Big 12 second team.
