Let me start out by saying that I like the local flava. I could live at the Lubbock Breakfast House and the (now closed) Wild Burger. But assuming that Lubbock is a growing place and there's a little room for everybody, I put together a list of fast food places I'd certainly like to go to.

When you look at the top fast food places in America, Lubbock has most of them covered. There are a few holes here and there that could be filled.

    Del Taco

Del Taco just has such a soft spot in my heart. When I was a teenager (and did things that made me hungry a lot) there was one near my house. It would be a tough run for Del Taco against the combo of Taco Villa and Taco Bell, but their menu is skewed just a bit more towards slightly more exotic ingredients (black beans, fresh avocado and such).

Heck, they even have an EIGHT-layer veggie burrito. There is a Del Taco in Fort Worth, so there's hope.

    Grandy's

Grandy's is one of those places that we had the joy of having for a long time. Who really knows why some places succeed or fail? All I know is that Grandy's on 50th used to be a destination, then it wasn't. Great chicken fried steaks, fried chicken and full meals.

I think it's time we welcome Grandy's back to town. Check out the menu here.

    Carl's Jr./Hardee's

Carl's Jr. had two runs in the Hub City, and I don't know why they didn't last. It's kind of a bummer because Carl's menu is always evolving. I used to be a big fan of the Sourdough burger, and now they have a new Thickburger, Midnight Moonshine Burgers and Guacamole Bacon Burgers. Carl's is actually pretty big on salads, too. I just love that smoky taste of Carl's Jr./Hardee's burgers.

    Zaxby's

Zaxby's has locations all over DFW, Houston and Austin. It's almost inevitable that they will drop in Lubbock at some point. Zaxby's menu is heavy on fried chicken. Still, I dare you to look at thier Zensation Zalad and not crave it. It just looks amazing! I also want a shot at the Zaxby's Club, too.

    Jack In The Box

Poor Jack. He just has not been able to make it in the Hub City. I think this chain has actually had THREE runs in the Hub, but definitely at least twice. I live for Jack's tacos, which aren't like any tacos you get anywhere else. I just like 'em. I love the Jumbo Jack and I love the variety on Jack's menu.

Jack In The Box was always the place we'd go when we didn't know what we wanted because they had so much to choose from.

    Bojangle's Famous Chicken And Biscuits

Do you like chicken? Do you like biscuits? If you like either or both, you'll like Bojangle's. As a matter of fact, pretty much everything on their menu features either chicken or a biscuit or both. I think the first thing I'd order if they came to Lubbock is the Cajun Filet or the Gravy Biscuit.

    Waffle House

Is Waffle House a fast food place? Or is just fast? It certainly is a lot more than breakfast even though that's what brings home the bacon for them. (See what I did there?) I am really intrigued by their Texas Melt sandwiches, but I don't know that I wouldn't just have breakfast there no matter what time of day I popped in. Check out their menu here.

  • Check This Out!

Maybe if we get a Carl's Jr/Hardee's, we can get commercials like this one.
