Chief’s safety Eric Berry will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in Kansas City’s Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Berry was hurt during the first quarter during a block by Bills receiver Stevie Johnson, according to a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the Chiefs have not disclosed details of the injury.

Berry was entering just his second season after being selected with the 5th overall pick in the 2010 draft. The strong safety made the Pro Bowl last year after racking up 72 tackles and four interceptions, including returning one pick for a touchdown. He and was being counted on heavily by the defending AFC West champions, who were hammered 41-7 at home by Buffalo.
