Last night in the Gold Cup, Team USA defeated team Panama 1-0 to advance to the teams 4th consecutive Gold Cup Finals.

Clint Dempsey scored the lone goal for America at the 76th minute to break up the scoreless game. Dempsey's score came off a perfect pass from Landon Donovan who came off the bench. Donovan had been a starter and it was a controversial call from Manager Bob Bradley to bench the player but it seems to have paid off, as he has performed much better during the Gold Cup coming off the bench.

Freddy Adu also saw his first action of the gold Cup and he did not disappoint. However, it was certainly a team effort that won the game for the U.S. as no individual play did particularly well.

Later that night Mexico defeated Honduras to advance to the Finals as well. This is Mexico’s 4th consecutive trip to the finals.

Mexico has defeated America in 3 of the last 5 CONCACAF Gold Cup Finals.

America and Mexico will hit the field at the Rose Bowl this Saturday for the championship.
