University of Houston and Brigham Young University Announce Football Series
The Houston Cougars and BYU Cougars announced on Tuesday that they will play in the 2013 and 2014 football seasons.
BYU will visit the 70 year old 32,000 capacity Robertson Stadium in Houston on Oct. 19, 2013, and Houston will travel to the 64,000+ LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo for a game on Sept. 27, 2014. The teams have never met in football. BYU will play its first season as a football independent in 2011.
This announcement comes at a time when both of these schools are among the top names mentioned for possible Big 12 expansion. It is unclear if this series gives any indication of either school declining a invitation to the Big 12. However, if both these schools are invited to restock the failing Big 12 it would not be difficult to find replacements for their on conference schedule.
