The Los Angeles Lakers can't seem to find success without Phil Jackson as head coach. After firing Mike Brown just five games into the season, they are trying again, this time with Mike D'Antoni.

D'Antoni is certainly familiar with teams out west, having coached the Phoenix Suns from 2003-2008 before leaving for the New York Knicks. This move will reunite D'Antoni with his former point guard, Steve Nash. In D'Antoni's time with the Suns he led them to two Western Conference finals, in 2005 and 2006.

D'Antoni didn't have a whole lot of success in new York, despite being teamed up with Amar'e Stoudemire. He didn't mesh well with Carmelo Anthony, which makes you wonder whether he'll have the same problem with players like Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant.

Former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson thought he would be asked to return to coach the team for a third time, but the team has moved on. Would Jackson have been a better fit?
