Ten games mark the return of Pioneer Football which include three teams from NCAA Division II and two from NCAA Division III. Wayland competes in NAIA and will take on five teams from the NAIA.

WBU Director of Athletics Dr. Greg Feris said in a press release, “The challenge faced in scheduling for this first year is that we wanted to play a variety of quality opponents while still having an opportunity to compete knowing that our team will be made up of a mixture of first year and transfer athletes."

On Oct. 20 a game against Southwestern Assemblies of God University of the NAIA will be the highlight of the WBU Homecoming 2012 weekend.

The Pioneer’s inaugural regular season will end with back-to-back road games on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 against NAIA-member Bacone College in Muskogee, Okla. and in Goodwill, Okla. against Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
