Thursday night, the Texas Tech Baseball team started its final series of the 2015 regular season, a three-game set at West Virginia.

Both Tech and West Virginia need wins to improve their RPI for an at-large chance for the NCAA Tournament.  West Virginia (26-24, 8-12 Big 12) prevailed Thursday night with a 6-4 win over Texas Tech (29-21, 12-10 Big 12).

West Virginia's bats lit up the Red Raiders starting pitcher Ryan Mosley. Mosley didn't even get out of the third inning as he gave up six runs, on six hits and three walks.

By the time the game entered the fourth inning, West Virginia had a 6-1 lead.

In the fourth inning, Stephen Smith led off the inning with a triple and then immediately scored on a wild pitch.

Then, in the sixth inning Smith hit a solo homer to start the inning.  Tyler Neslony came up next a hit a triple to left center.  Neslony then scored on a ground out. Nelsony's run was the final run of the inning to cut the deficit to 6-4.

Chad Donato pitched seven innings to earn his seventh win of the season.

Texas Tech and West Virginia play game two of their series Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock.
