You can show your support for Veterans this Veteran's Day when you turn on a green light.

The initiative, which you can learn more about at Greenlightavet.com, asks people to "change one light in a visible location in your home or office to green, and keep it glowing every day as a symbol of support and appreciation for our veterans."

There are stories from across the country of sold out shelves of green light bulbs, so I went out to investigate.

Most of our local Walmarts still have plenty of green light bulbs in stock. Food King's Ace Hardware said they had sold out, but were expecting to have green light bulbs in on Wednesday. At Home Depot, they only have a few left and the man who helped me said he was a veteran and had just learned of the initiative. I was glad for the opportunity to talk to him about the Green Light a Vet project and thanked him for his service.

If you know of any other places that are selling green light bulbs, please let us know in the comments or on our Facebook page.

Greenlightavet.com also gives us more ways to show our support by sharing the #greenlightavet hashtag, by green lighting our profile picture and by mapping our location so veterans everywhere can see how many of us are thankful for their service.

This is such a great way to show our support,  It's simple but powerful and imagine how great it will be when little by little we have more green lights up for these incredible men and women. Our Veterans have made an extreme sacrifice and deserve all the show of support we can offer.
