Where Are the Safest Cities in Texas?
Sadly, we already know that Lubbock isn't the safest city in Texas. In fact, it's pretty dangerous, mostly due to an extremely high incidence of property crimes. So, where are the safest cities in Texas?
1. In the Middle of Nowhere
Kermit ranks as the safest city in Texas according to a study by Alarms.org, with a crazy low ratio of crime to number of people: about .3 violent and 3 property crimes per 1,000 people. That's basically utopia, but you have to live west of Odessa and not even west enough to be close to El Paso. There's also only a population of about 6,000 people, so everyone knowing each other probably doesn't hurt their crime stats.
2. In an Affluent Suburb
Trophy Club, Texas is the second safest city, with .25 violent and 3.5 property crimes per 1,000 people, and as the name suggests it's one of those manufactured suburbs to a big city -- in this case the Dallas Metroplex. Is the low crime worth having to wear a salmon colored polo to fit in? Not for me.
Colleyville is no. 3 and is very similar to Trophy Club, both geographically and economically. Fairview. coming in at no. 4, is an affluent suburb near Plano. And rounding up the top 5 is Heath, Texas -- you guessed it, near the Dallas Metroplex, and built around a yacht club.
