On Wednesday, USA Today released a list of the highest paid college football coaches in the nation.

In all, there are 13 coaches with total pay of at least $5 million, which doesn't include potential bonuses, and 82 coaches who are earning at least $1 million this season.

Where does Kliff Kingsbury rank, you ask?

Kingsbury is the 30th highest paid coach in college football with $3,703,975 in school pay.

Some may argue that that might be a little too high for someone who doesn't have a winning record in his tenure at Texas Tech (33-35 as of the West Virginia game), there are more overrated coaches who have done much less than Kingsbury in their tenures.

Lovie Smith is the 13th highest paid football coach in the nation, and only boasts a 7-21 record as the coach of the Illinois Fighting Illini, so just remember it could always be worse.

Texas head coach Tom Herman is the highest paid Big 12 coach on the list, and also the 9th highest paid in college football. A little high up for someone who hasn't beat the Red Raiders, let alone been to a bowl game yet at Texas -- but hey, it's still early.

Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State), Gary Patterson (TCU), and Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma), are in between Herman and Kingsbury, and they are the contracts that I most agree with. Remember, Oklahoma decided to give Riley a raise, just so a certain player wasn't making more money than him.

Dana Holgerson (West Virginia), Bill Snyder (Kansas State), Matt Campbell (Iowa State) and David Beaty (Kansas) round out the rest of the highest paid coaches in the Big 12. Baylor was one of the seven schools to not share information of how much their head coach Matt Rhule makes, but if I had to guess, I think he would be just in front of David Beaty.

Coach Kingsbury and the Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-2) are heading into their bye week before gearing up for a Thursday night match-up on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs (3-2) on October 11th beginning at 6:30 p.m.
