As we wrap up Week 12 of the 2012 NFL season, some teams know that all hope is lost. But which of those teams had the highest expectations at the start of the year?

In the NFC, the Detroit Lions currently sit in last place at 4-7, after a second-place 10-6 season last year. Perhaps the team mentioned most with the word "disappointment" is the Philadelphia Eagles, who have lost five straight games. At 3-7, Philly has no playoff hope.

Over in the AFC, a couple teams once held in high regard are slumping. The San Diego Chargers, who are almost always in the hunt, currently sit at 4-7. The New York Jets seem to be masters of creating hype, but then not living up to it. At 4-7, they are four games behind first-place New England.
