Lubbock police are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred at the Lubbock Civic Center.

Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., police officers were taking a training course on the second floor of the Lubbock Civic Center, when a 26-year-old woman began screaming in the lobby. After finding her downstairs, officers were told by the woman she had just escaped an attempted kidnapping.

Officers were told that the suspect had approached the female multiple times while in the lobby. As the victim attempted to get away, the male suspect grabbed her and began attempting to carrying her into an adjacent room. The female began screaming and struggled to get away. This attracted the attention of several other people in the center. She broke free and ran toward officers coming down the stairs. Others nearby also ran to help her.

The suspect, 33-year-old Lucio Dominguez Jr., who was still on the scene, was taken into custody for attempted kidnapping.
