Women’s World Cup(yawn), Kentucky Extends Calipari, and More in Today’s Fan Happy Hour
The United States Women’s Soccer team defeated North Korea 2-0 in Group C of the Women’s World Cup Tuesday in Dresden, Germany. The effort by the Americans was uninspiring and dull to put it nicely, but then again they could have been taking it easy on the poor North Koreans as they will be tortured if they don’t perform well in the cup like the Men’s team was (allegedly) in 2010.
The University of Kentucky rewarded Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari with a 2-year contract extension to go along with a raise making his total compensation worth $36.5 million. I’m not against the rich, but I am against the ilk of John Calipari and his continued cheating. Yes, cheating if you repeatedly and knowingly violate NCAA rules and have 2 Final Fours vacated for it.
Finally, Game 2 of the College World Series Championship Series is tonight with South Carolina looking to sweep the series and win a second consecutive National Championship. Coverage begins on 1340 The Fan around 6:40pm tonight.
