Former Dallas Cowboys and current Chicago Bears wide-receiver, Sam Hurd has been arrested in Chicago on a federal drug charge.

Hurd was arrested Wednesday night after a meeting with an undercover agent at a Chicago restaurant.

The feds interest in Hurd began in July of this year when an informant told authorities of Hurd trying to buy four kilograms of cocaine.

Hurd told the agent that he was interested in buying five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute in the Chicago area. He allegedly said he and a co-conspirator already distribute about four kilos of cocaine every week, but their supplier couldn’t keep up with his demands.

If Hurd is convicted of the charge against him, he faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $2 million dollar fine.
